anyone here got a preference? i don't, but i have met some that get uppity about it. i think as a general rule daves are more laid back about this, unlike steven/steve's and especially christopher/chris'! my only reserve is on davey because my family is southern and call me davey joe. i don't respond to that version kindly unless it's spoken by a hillbilly aunt carrying a plate of fried chicken...

Re: david, dave, or davey?
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 9:28 AMI was always, in my own mind, just Dave. But at some point my best friend pointed out that it is such a common name that if he could at a glace differentiate my name from other Daves he'd read my messages more quickly, so why not go by Davey D, which most of my friends call me anyways. I hadn't thought about it until then, but yes, most of my friends DO call me that. So I started calling myself that.

Re: david, dave, or davey?
Mon, July 25, 2005 - 1:34 PMI was Davey (and still am mostly) to my family. And that's because my Dad was Dave, too. At my firehouse I was Daveo to avoid confusion with the three other Dave's in the house. Old people and Jewish people are the only ones who ever call me David even though I introduce myself as Dave. And In my mind I'm Dave...
